About Me:
You can call me Lov! My name is Lou, the Blog name is a play on writing my name with v as the u and Love for Digimon.
I grew up watching the German Digimon Dub, and also played a lot of Digimon World, DW 2003, Rumble Arena, and more, in my childhood.
I haven't played all Digimon games yet, but I'm working on it!
I love all original Digimon Anime seasons, Adventure to Savers. I haven't gotten around to watching any newer ones myself yet.
Tumblr media
My favorite Digimon is Bearmon! If I had a Bearmon Partner Digimon, this would be the evolution line:
YukimiBotamon > Kapurimon > Bearmon > Gryzmon > Pandamon > Dianamon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mostly try to post cards in English to make the card text more accesible to everyone. If you see a post with Japanese Card text, I'll update it once the English version is out.
The Official Digimon Card Game Twitter didn't start sharing cards regularly until around BT-08, and anything before BT-05 is especially hard to find. I usually have to edit multiple versions of the image together. I hope you all appreciate the effort!

On the Aniversary of a Digimon Landmark
Below you will find a text describing what Digimon World: Re Digitize Decode means to this franchise and why we should support it. For those of you who do not have the time or interest to read why I posted this, I will make clear right now: I ask for your support with a petition to port this game to current consoles and PC, but more importantly to make it accessible to us fans outside of Japan.
You can find the petition here: change . org / p / bandai-namco-entertainment-digimon-world-re-digitize-decode-port-pc-switch-ps4-5-etc
To summarize why we should support this initiative, it’s because we want to show the Digimon team that we enjoy their work, and we are still interested to play it. We only want the chance to be able to support them.
8 years ago, the game “Digimon World Re Digitize” was released for the PlayStation Vita on Japan. This game represents one of the most important turning points in the franchise. After 13 years, it was a comeback to the original Digimon World gameplay, the one that represented the very heart of the franchise, the raising mechanics that focused on the link between the player and a single digimon. After years of diminishing sales from advertising to the children’s market, the game was designed with the older fans in mind, the people that had grown up playing the games and watching the anime. Re Digitize was a gamble, a low-budget game with an untested approach working under the assumption that Digimon had made enough of an impact on the children growing up that, years later, they would be interested on returning to it.
Re Digitize was a success, garnering over double the sales of any Digimon game in years, giving us the experience we had been missing for over a decade of the franchise trying to emulate the gameplay styles of other series. It was enough of a success that a lot of fans outside of Japan imported it, exhilarated to finally get back the experience they had been missing for years. It was enough of a success that another game came under production, a game that would be everything Re Digitize couldn’t be because of lack of resources, a game with more Digimon, more mechanics, more characters, more storyline. This game was Re Digitize Decode.
Decode was a commercial failure.
It may have been because of the console it was released in. It may have been because of the stygma of remaking your own game, even though it was actually a much improved and longer version of it. It may have been because the regional lock of the 3DS did not allow the fans outside of Japan to support it as they had supported its prequel. Whatever the reason, Decode’s failure was a hit to this new approach, enough of a hit that the next game did not receive as much support as Decode.
The next game was Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, the second most successful game of the franchise, a game people outside of Japan could play because we, the fans, did everything we could to inform Bandai we were still interested in Digimon games. Every Digimon game we have been able to play since then, from big console games like Next Order or Hacker’s Memory to even mobile games such as Heroes or ReArise, were made accessible to us because we proved we were still interested in this franchise.
All of these games, to greater or lesser degree, were born of Re Digitize and Decode. Games that we have not been able to properly support due to the lack of opportunity. The Petition at the top of this post is born of a desire to show our gratitude to the team that made this possible. A desire to be able to support a game that has given those of us who have managed to play it hours of fun.
If you, like me, desire to support the release of this game outside of Japan, please sign the petition at the top.

Sure is a lot of “tell, don’t show” when it comes to the official profiles of Digimon.
I’m sure we’ll see WitcheIny and Digital World: Iliad someday though (the next Digimon Story game IS about the Olympos XII so not including the Digital World: Iliad wouldn’t be kind of dumb TBH). The Dark Area’s appeared a few times after all.

When it comes to the PSOne, I always liked the first Rayman on it, but it's very hard to beat. Similarily, sunk hours into Digimon World 3, it's fun to play I think, but becomes almost impossible to beat eventually. So those are recommendations if you want something challenging to sink your teeth into? I've heard good things about Digimon World 2 from people who played it as kids, but I personally couldn't get into its Digimon raising mechanics.
Aren’t the other two Digimon games more traditional JRPGs? I was always really drawn to the first one because it felt just like the virtual pet but with a story mode added on.  That’s why I didn’t feel any excitement toward the recently localized Digimon games. We didn’t get re-digitize decode, and that was the one that mattered to me.
The first Rayman came with the PSClassic so I’ll probably give it a try, hopefully I’ll like it more than I liked Rayman 2. I played it for a few minutes but it’s one of those games that starts you out with no powers, so I didn’t get much of an impression.

Favorite Digimon from each V-Pet, part 4
The Pendulum X series (2003) gave us one of the most beloved Digimon storylines ever: the X-Program storyline. A tale of prejudice, of oppression, of betrayal, of death and rebirth and the efforts people will go just to survive another day, the extent some people are willing to compromise their morals for the greater good, and the conviction of those who would not compromise. Digimon products had always liked to include some mature stuff to differentiate themselves (see: literally any of the animes), but the X-Program storyline blew almost all of them out of the water in terms of how dark it was willing to go.
Whatever the reason they decided to go that route, the V-Pet team was clearly inspired, as proven by both the new gameplay mechanics included in it and the designs of the new Digimon. Some of my absolute favorites, both in terms of lore and design, debuted in this generation, including what is probably my favorite Child Digimon ever:
Tumblr media
From a pure design basis, Dorumon is the epitome of the Digimon aesthetic for Child Digimon. Both a mammal and a dragon, he’s the perfect mix of cuddly and ferocious, looking like he can rip you to shreds while also making you want to hug him. This duality is hinted at in his profile, which states that he’s highly aggressive but also prone to forming attachments. In a franchise with creatures that were supposed to be both highly dangerous and your beloved companions, he’s perfect.
Lore-wise, Dorumon is at the core of the X-Program storyline, someone whose very existence has been deemed a threat and thus must be killed, even if he himself is just trying to survive the same calamities that had befallen everyone else, someone who wants to prove to himself that he deserves to live. His 3 “main” evolution lines represent different aspects of this. Creativity and destruction are a theme of the Dorugaromon line, eventually becoming something seemingly contradictory, an Avatar of Destruction born of the Daydream of a Digicore, the “Ultimate Enemy” that is only fighting against those who would eradicate millions in the name of the greater good. In the Death-X-mon line, all this potential banishes. Only a hollow core remains, one that desperately wants to be something, that destroys all things in its attempts to be complete again, but cannot ever be. Digimon Chronicle paints it as a sort of “Death beyond Death”, and it’s fascinating. Of course, the final line is Alphamon, who needs no introduction. Dorumon is the representation of potential, a Prototype Digimon that can embody both Dreams and Death, Creativity and Destruction, the potential to rise above the suffering around you and to become a tool in service of it. Digital Monster X-Evolution, despite its flaws, perfectly conveys this concept, and its protagonist Dorumon is my favorite character in the entire franchise.
My favorite line for this Digimon? Any of them would do, since they’re all so great, but for now I’ll go with: Dodomon -> Dorimon -> Dorumon -> Dorugamon -> Doruguremon -> Dorugaromon -> Death-X-mon. This is basically Kouta’s line in Digimon Chronicle, except there would be no second chances. The story would be similar to Juri’s in Digimon Tamers, of a Tamer having to cope with the death of their partner, only this time around that partner has transformed into the very enemy they must defeat. Perhaps Dorumon and the Tamer were both convinced their potential would result in the greatest hero (like Alphamon), only to end with the Death Of All Things. Dark, but not any darker than the X-Program storyline already was.
Honorary Mentions: GrandisKuwagamon, Tobucatmon, TigerVespamon

Isn’t that name a trademark violation?
Also the soda is overrated. It’s hell to open and a hassle to drink. The Hi-Chew (and Hi-Chew but harder Puchao) flavor is pretty good though.
